It wasn’t many years ago that our local grocery store shelves were dominated by yellow, fizzy pale lagers, a few exports, and an array of the light beers featured in 30, 18, 12, and 6-packs. They were stocked with bottles and cans from all of the national “big guys,” and there was nary a craft beer in sight.
That all changed at Price Chopper in the early/mid 2010’s as they greatly shifted the dynamics of their store layouts, added more space for beer, and fully embraced national, regional, and local craft beer. At the time, they expanded many of their beer departments to include a “Pick 6” section, which allows consumers an opportunity to piece together their own mixed 6-packs, encouraging them to explore more local beer options. They also began offering local beer options on draft through their Growler Station departments—featured at a handful of stores.
Now, as the beer world continues to evolve, Price Chopper and Market 32 is fully vested in offering a wide array of local beer offerings, as well as national and regional brands, as we circle into 2022.
